Sunday July 6th 2025: Stage 2 - Lauwin-Planque – Boulogne-sur-Mer (209.1 km, punchy)

The second stage takes the peloton from Lauwin-Planque to the coastal town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the route goes through a rolling landscape of Hauts-de-France. The second stage takes the peloton from Lauwin-Planque to the coastal town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. This is a typical transition stage with over 2,100 metres of elevation, mainly concentrated in the finale. The route winds through the rolling landscape of Hauts-de-France, where the wind often has free rein. There are a few longer, running sections in the first half of the stage, but after 103 kilometres the Côte de Cavron-Saint-Martin (1.2 kilometres at 5.6%) awaits. This climb is a first harbinger of what awaits the riders later.

After 179.5 kilometres the Côte du Haut Pichot follows, a steep slope of 1 kilometre at 10.3%. This climb will further thin out the peloton and bring out the strong punchers. The finale begins twenty kilometers later with the Côte de Saint-Étienne-au-Mont (900 meters at 10.8%) and shortly after the Côte d’Outreau (800 meters at 7.9%). Both climbs are short but steep and can make the difference. After the last climb, it is still 5.5 kilometers to the finish, with a final kilometer that is slightly uphill at around 5%. This makes it an ideal arrival for attackers and punchers who want to strike in the final kilometers. The GC riders will have to be alert to not lose any time, while the sprinters will probably come up short here due to the tough finale.
