Giro d'Italia 2025 - Prediction stage 2

Saturday May 10th 2025: Stage 2 - Tirana - Tirana (13.6 km, short ITT)

Saturday the 10th of May will see the second stage of the Giro: an individual time trial of 13.7 kilometres through the Albanian capital Tirana. Halfway through the route, a climb of 1.2 kilometres with an average gradient of 5.7% awaits. The technical bends are a striking feature of the route, which can really slow down the pace. The sections between the bends are mostly straight and the roads are mostly wide.

After five kilometres, the riders reach the large city park of Tirana. They follow the edge of the park and start the climb of the stage there. This climb starts with 900 metres at 6.4% and then descends to a slightly ascending false flat. The average gradient over the entire 1.2 kilometres is 5.7%. At the highest point, the riders make a U-turn and descend via the other side back towards the centre.

For comparison: last year, there were two individual time trials on the Giro programme. The first, with a climb finish, was won by Tadej Pogacar. The second, completely flat, was won by Filippo Ganna.
