Sunday 2 August 2026 – Tour de France Femmes stage 2: Aigle → Geneva (147.9 km)

Route

Stage 2 of the Tour de France Femmes runs from Aigle to Geneva, 147.9 kilometres further on. The stage starts and finishes right along Lake Geneva, with a hilly middle section further from the water. In total the peloton climbs over 1,700 metres of elevation.

After a flat opening phase, the Côte de Chexbres (3.2 km at 5.6%) begins at km 30. Without a descent, the road continues to the Côte de Savigny (2.5 km at 5%) at km 43.3. After a long, gradual descent to Penthalaz, the peloton climbs the Côte de Cossonay (2 km at 6%) at km 73.3. Here too there is no descent: the road remains undulating until the Côte de Bougy-Villars (0.9 km at 10.4%) at km 94.7, the shortest but steepest climb of the day. Immediately after the descent to Mont-sur-Rolle comes the final climb, the Côte de Mont-sur-Rolle (2.3 km at 6.5%) at km 100.5.

From km 102.8 the climbing is over, with just over 45 kilometres remaining. The road remains undulating until the course flattens out again towards the finish in Geneva.

Final kilometres

After the final climb at Mont-sur-Rolle, the course remains undulating until Nyon. From Nyon, with around 35 kilometres to go, the road gradually flattens out. The final 20 kilometres run along Lake Geneva to the finish in Geneva, without any notable obstacles.

Recent editions

The Tour de France Femmes finishes in Geneva for the first time this year. Similar flat stages went to sprinters last year: in 2025 Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx-Protime) won the second stage after beating Vos in the sprint, and she went on to claim the green points classification.

Scenarios

Everything points to a sprint. Lorena Wiebes showed in the opening stage that she is in top form. SD Worx–Protime will want to defend the yellow jersey and keep the early break on a short leash, which should maintain a high likelihood of a bunch sprint. With this being one of the few sprint opportunities in this edition, several teams have a clear interest in keeping the race controlled.

Local

Aigle, the starting location, has been home to the UCI World Cycling Centre since 2002, the training centre and headquarters of the cycling federation UCI. Switzerland is represented in the women's peloton by riders including Marlen Reusser (Movistar) and Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly), who will ride the stage to Geneva in front of their home crowd.
