Wednesday April 22nd 2026: La Flèche Wallonne 2026 - Herstal - Huy (208.8 km)

La Flèche Wallonne 2026 will be raced for the 90th time over 208.8 kilometers with eleven categorized climbs. As usual, the decision seems to be made on the steep final climb to the Mur de Huy, where the race is often decided in the last few hundred metres.

The start is in Herstal, where the peloton heads towards Huy via the Côte de Forges, among others. There, the local circuit awaits, which is identical to several editions: 37.2 kilometres long with three well-known climbs – the Côte d’Ereffe, the Côte de Cherave and the Mur de Huy. These climbs are all in the second half of the tour. Because the peloton visits the circuit for the first time halfway through the race, the riders get a good view of the final section.

In 2024, the Côte de Cherave was missing from the schedule once, without any significant impact on the course of the race. Then too, the final passage of the Mur de Huy determined the outcome of the race. Last year no one came close to Tadej Pogacar's attack on the final ascent of Mur de Huy.

The Mur de Huy remains the defining element in the 2026 Flèche. The climb is 1.3 kilometers long and has an average gradient of 9.6%. After a relatively mild approach, the road climbs 400 meters at 11%, followed by a short section of 17%. After that, the gradient remains around 14% for 300 meters, until it drops back to 6% in the last 100 meters.
