Sunday March 2nd 2025: Kortrijk - Kuurne (196.9 km)
On Sunday March 2nd 2025 Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne will be raced: 196.9 km, including 13 hills and several cobbled sectors in the first 140 kilometers. The big question is as always: will the sprinters survive?
After the start in Kortrijk, the peloton rides 17 kilometers to the Tiegemberg (1400m, max. 8%). This is followed by Volkegemberg (1000m, max. 8.5%), Boembeek, and Bossenaarstraat (1300m, max. 9%). The focus is around kilometer 100, with Hameau des Papin (1200m, max. 16.2%), Le Bourliquet (1300m, max. 15.3%) and Mont Saint-Laurent (1300m, max. 17%) as executioners. Then the Kruisberg (1400m, max. 10.9%), Hotond, Côte de Trieu (1260m, max. 13%) and Kluisberg (1100m, max. 11%) complete the hilly zone, 58.8 km before the finish.
Between the climbs there are treacherous cobbled sectors, such as Holleweg (700m) and Beerbosstraat (500m, 34.1 km before the finish), which can further open up the race.
In Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, after the hills, the question is always where the sprinters will hang out. Can they return in time or will the attackers seize their chance? Wout van Aert launched the attack on Mont Saint-Laurent last year and left the peloton without a chance with Tim Wellens and Oier Lazkano. The last sprinter to win was Fabio Jakobsen (2022).
