Omloop Nieuwsblad 2025 - Prediction

Saturday March 1st 2025: Gent - Ninove (197 km) 

On Saturday March 1st 2025, the classics season in Belgium will start with Omloop Nieuwsblad. And this is the prediction of our model. The race of 197 kilometer contains seven cobbled sectors and eleven hills, with Kapelmuur and Bosberg being the main ones in the final of the race.

After two early cobblestone sections, the climbing begins on the Leberg (52.5 km), after which the race builds towards a crucial phase between kilometers 141 and 185. Here the riders are presented with a succession of steep climbs and cobblestone sections, including the Eikenberg (5.2% average), Wolvenberg (max. 17.3%) and Molenberg (14.2%).

The Haaghoek, one of the toughest cobblestone sections, returns three times and can serve as a launching pad for attacks. The final starts on the Kapelmuur (475m, 9.3% average, max. 19.8%), followed by the Bosberg (980m, 5.8% average, max. 11.0%). Here the decisive differences can be made before the last 11.8 flat kilometers towards Ninove.

Last year the race was decided on the Bosberg, where Jan Tratnik attacked and took a lead together with Nils Politt. Tratnik proved to be the strongest in the sprint. The question is: who will win in 2025?
