Giro d'Italia 2025 - Prediction stage 12

Thursday May 22nd 2025: Stage 12 - Modeno - Viadana (172km, sprint)

On Thursday 22 May, the sprinters in the Giro d’Italia will have another chance to show their mettle during the twelfth stage from Modena to Viadana. The route is 172 kilometres long and takes the riders north from historic Modena towards the Po Valley. Although the start of the stage contains a few hills, including climbs at Baiso and La Stella, the profile is largely flat after the final climb at Borsea. From that point on, there are still more than seventy flat kilometres left until the finish.

The first hundred kilometres are slightly undulating, with a few short climbs that are mainly interesting for early attackers. Nevertheless, the sprinter teams are expected to keep the peloton under control and not give breakaways a chance. In the run-up to Viadana, a place that is hosting a Giro finish for the first time, the riders will ride a local lap on wide, straight roads. The last three kilometres are clear and contain only one bend at five hundred metres from the finish, after which a wide, straight finish follows.

Along the way, bonus seconds can be earned at the intermediate sprint after 139 kilometers and at the finish for the first three riders. Everything indicates that the fast men will mix in a mass sprint, with a big chance that one of the top sprinters will go home with the flowers
