Wednesday May 21st - Giro d'Italia 2025 stage 11 - Viareggio - Castelnovo ne' Monti (186km)
On Wednesday 21 May, the riders will face a tough eleventh stage in the Giro d’Italia, with 186 kilometres and 3,850 metres of elevation. The route starts with an approach of approximately 80 kilometres, which includes two short climbs. This is followed by a long, tough climb with an average gradient of 8.8% and a steep section of up to 19%. After this climb, there is an irregular descent, after which they must immediately climb again over a longer slope of over eleven kilometres, which flattens out somewhat in the last kilometres.
The descent after this climb contains a few ascending sections, including a three-kilometre section at five percent towards an intermediate sprint. A striking rock formation awaits in the finale, which is reached via a climb of almost six kilometres at 5.8%. The top of this climb is five kilometres before the finish. The end of the stage is winding, contains another short climb and the last kilometre goes up by four percent.
Along the way, bonus seconds can be earned at the intermediate sprint and at the finish. This stage is challenging and offers opportunities for climbers and attackers, while the classification can be shaken up again.
