Gent-Wevelgem 2025 - Prediction
Wednesday 26 March 2025 • Previews
Sunday March 30th 2025: Ieper - Wevelgem (250.3 km)
Gent-Wevelgem covers 250.3 kilometres, with nine climbs and three unpaved sections. After a possible fanning hazard in De Moeren, a tough section of 60 kilometres full of obstacles follows, after which the last 34 kilometres are flat. The race starts under the Menin Gate in Ypres and turns towards the coast via Zonnebeke. In De Moeren, things can get going if the wind gets a grip on the peloton.
The hilly zone starts on the Scherpenberg. The Baneberg, Monteberg and Kemmelberg follow within 15 kilometres. Shortly after that, the ‘plug streets’, three unpaved sections of 5.2 kilometres in total, await. After the last section, the Monteberg and Kemmelberg await again. In the final, the riders climb the Scherpenberg, Baneberg and Kemmelberg again — this time from the toughest side: 700 metres at an average of 10.4%, with peaks of up to 21.1%. From there, it is another 34 kilometres flat towards Wevelgem. Last year, escapees Van der Poel and Pedersen held off the peloton. The Dane won the sprint on the Vanackerestraat.
