Tour de France Femmes 2023 - Prediction stage 2
Sunday 23 July 2023 • Previews
Monday, July 24th: Clermont-Ferrand - Mauriac (148km)
The second stage takes the riders from Clermont-Ferrand to Mauriac. Covering 148 kilometers of hilly terrain, the riders will face challenging climbs and fast descents. This is a stage where the climbers can showcase their strength and possibly create the first differences in the overall classification. The yellow jersey could also change shoulders after this stage, as the finish is located on a 3.4-kilometer hill with a 5.4% gradient. It's a great opportunity for punchers to secure a double prize.
Much will depend on the tactics of SD Worx. Will they protect Kopecky's yellow jersey by, for example, sending Marlen Reusser on the attack, or will the general classification contenders try to create differences with riders who fell behind in the first stage and establish their positions in the standings before the Tourmalet?
The computer believes that the short steep climbs suit Lotte Kopecky, and therefore, it thinks she will successfully fend off attacks and even sprint to victory from a smaller group. Perhaps a late attack by the general classification contenders could mean a win for her teammate Demi Vollering. That's why she is the unicorn of the CyclingOracle team.
