Dwars door Vlaanderen 2023 Women- Prediction

Wednesday 29 March: Waregem-Waregem (114.9 km)

On Wednesday 29 March, it's time again: Across Flanders for Women will start! Unfortunately, this classic race is only a 1.Pro event this year, but for women it is still part of the holy Flemish cycling week and will therefore have a strong field of participants again this year. The course is challenging, as in previous years, with no less than 7 cobblestone sections and 8 climbs on the outskirts of the Flemish Ardennes, promising to be a spectacle.

Traditional climbs such as Berg Ten Houte, Côte de Trieu, and the Hotond will also be on the menu this year. In addition, the cobblestones of the Mariaborrestraat and Huisepontweg, among others, will provide extra challenges. The finale takes place in and around Waregem, with two local laps to be ridden. Nokereberg and the stones of the Herlegemstraat will play an important role here. The conclusion will take place on the Verbindingsweg in Waregem.

The race starts at 2:50 pm from the Hippodrome in Waregem and is expected to finish around 5:47 pm on the Verbindingsweg. The distance is 114.9 km.

Previous editions

Dwars door Vlaanderen for women, is a well-known race with a rich history. Since 2012, various female cyclists have won the race, first as a National Event (NE) and since 2017 as part of the UCI calendar. It was first classified as a 1.1 race and last year and this year as a 1.Pro race.

Last Year

Last year, the 5th edition of Dwars door Vlaanderen for Women was won by Chiara Consonni of Valcar-Travel & Service. In the opening phase, there were many attacks, but none of them had a real chance of succeeding. After the Kanarieberg, Brodie Chapman stayed ahead of the peloton for a long time and gained a small lead, but was later caught up. In the finale, several riders attacked, but the peloton came back together for the last eight kilometers towards the finish in Waregem. After 120 kilometers around Waregem, Consonni crossed the finish line first in a chaotic mass sprint of a reduced peloton, ahead of Julie De Wilde (Plantur-Pura) and Elise Chabbey (Canyon-SRAM).
