Saturday 8 August – Tour de France Femmes stage 8: Sisteron → Nice (171.9 km)

Route

Stage 8 takes the peloton from Sisteron to Nice, 171.9 kilometres further along the Côte d'Azur. On paper the stage looks flat, but it includes 1,615 metres of climbing over four fourth-category ascents.

The first half of the stage runs through the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. At km 61 the Col des Robines begins (2.6 km at 4.6%), followed by the Col de Toutes Aures (6.4 km at 3.1%) starting at km 76.5. After crossing into the Alpes-Maritimes at km 105, the intermediate sprint follows in Puget-Théniers (km 112.8). From there the road runs flat for a long stretch alongside the Var towards Nice.

In the final quarter of the stage the route becomes rolling. The Côte de Colomars (1.4 km at 5.4%) begins at km 154.7, followed by the Côte de la Ginestière (2.5 km at 4.4%) starting at km 164.2. After the top of that last climb, 7.7 kilometres remain to the finish line in Nice.

Final kilometres

After the top of the Côte de la Ginestière (7.7 km from the finish), the road descends back into the valley of the Var. The final kilometre is flat (0.3% average), with a straight run-in to the finish on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Recent editions

The Tour de France Femmes finishes in Nice for the first time. The city was, however, the setting for the final stage of the men's Tour de France 2024: an individual time trial of 33.7 km from Monaco, won by Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates). That edition did not start in Paris because of the Olympic Games.

At Paris-Nice, where the men's peloton usually does finish on the Promenade des Anglais, the last few editions went to: 2026 – Lenny Martinez (Bahrain-Victorious), 2025 – Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers), 2024 – Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), 2023 – Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates, solo).

Scenarios

A stage for the sprinters? The four category‑4 climbs come far from the finish, and the final kilometre is flat. Puncheurs and classics riders have a chance if the Côte de la Ginestière, 7.7 km from the line, manages to thin out the peloton. It could also be a spot where Demi tries to gain a few seconds on the rest of the field. Early breakaways may get space on the four climbs in the first half of the stage, but the sprint teams might still keep tight control on the run into Nice.

Weather forecast

Expected in Nice on Saturday: sunny and warm with a maximum of 30.1°C and a minimum of 25.3°C. No precipitation is forecast. In the final 50 km there is a southerly wind with gusts up to 11.5 km/h, with little influence on the race.
