Tuesday 4 August – Tour de France Femmes stage 4: Gevrey-Chambertin → Dijon (21 km)

Route

Stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes is an individual time trial of 21 kilometres between Gevrey-Chambertin and Dijon. The riders start at 14:34, the first rider in yellow leaves around 17:28. It is the only time trial of this edition.

The first 7 kilometres run straight towards Dijon over flat roads. At Marsannay-la-Côte the route turns left onto a false flat. The climb rises gradually to the Lacets de Marsannay, which begins at km 9.7: officially the Lacets de Marsannay (1.8 km at 6.9%), in practice spread over 3 km at an average of 5.7%. At the intermediate point at km 9.7, at the top of the climb, the only unofficial time check of the stage is taken.

After the top there follows another 2 kilometres of rolling terrain to Corcelles-les-Monts (km 11.3). After that the road descends 6 kilometres to Dijon, largely in straight lines. In the final 2 kilometres there are a few bends, without it becoming technical, until the finish on the Cours du Général de Gaulle in the centre of Dijon.

Final kilometres

After the descent from Corcelles-les-Monts, the road becomes more winding in the final 2 kilometres, without this really breaking the speed. The finish is on the Cours du Général de Gaulle, a wide straight road in the centre of Dijon.

Recent editions

2024 – Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx - Protime), time trial in Rotterdam (22.5 km). 2023 – Marlen Reusser (Team SD Worx), time trial in Pau (22.6 km), the final stage of that edition. In 2025 there was no time trial on the programme.

Scenarios

The time trial specialists are the focus. Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team), reigning time trial world champion, is the rider to beat on this route.

A day for the GC contenders who want to gain or lose time. Ferrand-Prévot has not ridden a time trial in five years, while Vollering and Reusser regularly compete against the clock: the difference can directly affect the general classification.

Local

Gevrey-Chambertin is a wine village in the Côte-d'Or, known for the grand cru Chambertin. Dijon is the capital of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and was the seat of the Dukes of Burgundy from the fourteenth to the fifteenth century. The city is also known for the production of mustard.
