Saturday, July 29 - Stage 7: Lannemezan > Tourmalet Bagnères-de-Bigorre (90 km)
The seventh stage is the queen stage of the Tour de France Femmes 2023. Covering a distance of 90 kilometers, the riders will face challenging climbs, including the famous Aspin and Tourmalet passes. They will have to push their limits as they ascend to the top of the Tourmalet, the "roof" of the Tour at an altitude of 2,110 meters. This stage will reveal who has the best chance of securing the overall victory in the general classification.
The computer predicts a duel between Annemiek van Vleuten and Demi Vollering. With Demi currently at a disadvantage due to a time penalty for drafting too long behind the team car, she will likely attack and try to gain time to have an advantage going into the time trial.
Additionally, the battle for the podium will remain a goal for many riders, leading to fierce competition throughout the stage. Key contenders include Elisa Longo Borghini, who has improved her performance this week. Ashleigh Moolman will seek revenge for last year when she had to withdraw due to illness, and Juliette Labous, who struggled with the heat on the first day but has been strong in recent days. Katarzyna Niewiadoma and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig should not be underestimated, but they seem to prefer shorter, steeper climbs and may find the long high-altitude ascents more challenging.
