La Flèche Wallonne Femmes 2023 - Prediction
Monday 17 April 2023 • Previews
19th of April: Huy - Huy (127,3km)
La Flèche Wallonne Femmes is one of the most prestigious one-day women's cycling races in the world and is known for its challenging course, with the steep Mur de Huy climb to decide the race. The race traditionally takes place in the Walloon region of Belgium and is part of the UCI Women's WorldTour.
The race was first organized in 1998 and has since attracted some of the biggest names in women's cycling. In recent years, the race has been dominated by Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen, who won seven consecutive editions. Anna retired last year, putting an end to her winning streak. Last year, Martha Cavalli, after winning the Amstel Gold Race, also won here. This year, she does not seem to be at the same level to repeat that performance, and her DNF at the Amstel was a bad sign.
La Flèche Wallonne Femmes - Profile
The course of La Flèche Wallonne Femmes is 127.3 kilometers long and includes nine climbs, with the famous Mur de Huy being the last one. The Mur de Huy is a steep climb of 1.3 kilometers with an average gradient of 9.6% and will be done 3 times in the race. Like previous years, a large group is expected to reach the last climb together, and a final burst of power will determine the winner of the race.
