All Vuelta 2025 content at one place:
The 2025 Vuelta a España promises yet another captivating cycling spectacle, spread over 21 stages from August 23rd to September 14th. This 80th edition does not start in Spain itself, but kicks off with a “Gran Salida” at the Venaria Reale palace in Turin, Italy. The race thus opens with three Italian stages, featuring immediate elevation changes and hilly terrain.
Diverse and International
After Italy, the peloton continues via France and Andorra into Spain. In total, the riders will traverse four countries and cover more than 3,100km. The entry into Spain comes via a mountainous stage to Pal in Andorra, directly followed by the first uphill finishes in northern Spain—prime territory for climbers.
The Focus: Northern Spain
The main challenges of this Vuelta are clearly concentrated in the north, with legendary climbs such as the Angliru, La Farrapona, and Bola del Mundo featuring again. There are a total of 11 summit finishes, including several that are iconic in cycling history. Particularly decisive will be the famed Angliru (stage 13) and the final stage on Bola del Mundo, both likely to shape the outcome of the general classification.
Decisive Finals
The finale of this Vuelta is exceptionally tough. The riders face challenging summit finishes on Angliru, La Farrapona, El Morredero, and—concluding—the Bola del Mundo, each enough to completely shake up the standings. The last stage traditionally offers a sprint opportunity in Madrid, but the fight for the red jersey will likely be settled in the high mountains.
Conclusion
The 2025 Vuelta offers a thrilling edition packed with climbs, giving both aggressive attackers and general classification contenders a chance to make their mark. Fans of gruelling mountain stages will certainly enjoy this route, especially with so many iconic summit finishes on the program. Whoever appears in Madrid wearing red will have truly survived an epic journey through four countries.
